Employees from Taylor Patterson have had an energetic month raising money for their nominated charity, East Lancashire Hospice.
Firstly, a team of six ladies took part in the Strictly Starlight walk, an 8 mile night time challenge around Blackburn. The Taylor Patterson ladies donned flashing headgear and wands to light their way as they joined 450 other walkers on a girl’s night out raising money for patient care at the hospice.
Louise Potter, Director at Taylor Patterson commented, “Never one to turn down a night out, the event was great fun. With well wishers encouraging us on our route it really helped spur us on especially with some of the hills we had to tackle, and to top it off the bacon butty at the finish line was a well deserved prize”.
Not to be outdone by the ladies, three of the men at Taylor Patterson took part in their own challenge, “The 608 to Yorkshire”, an attempt to run the Yorkshire Three Peaks in under 6 hours and 8 minutes.
With months of training completed to get ready for the event, on 12th July they took on the 24 miles and 7,000 feet of hills. The weather on the day was extremely hot with little breeze which lead to two of the team suffering from the conditions having completed two of the peaks, a total of 18 miles.
Chris Badin, Director at Taylor Patterson, who was taking part in the event commented, “It wasn’t the best running conditions but I was delighted to finish the challenge 21 minutes ahead of our target finishing in 5 hours and 47 minutes, but can honestly say that I have never been so tired”.
With over £1,000 raised from both events and more fundraising activities planned, Taylor Patterson are well on the way to achieving their fundraising target of £6,000 for the year.
