Taylor Patterson is delighted to announce that Tia McKiernan-Karri is the winner of their Cardinal Newman Artwork competition for 2014.
The competition, in its second year, commissioned students studying the Level 3 BTEC Diploma in Art and Design at Cardinal Newman College to produce a piece of art based on the theme “My Surroundings” The students research and experiment with a host of different techniques, including painting, drawing, photography, embroidery and printing to produce pieces for the competition.
Aimee Gilfoyle, course leader explained, “Our students have really enjoyed producing work for Taylor Patterson and it has given our students a fantastic opportunity to work on a live commission.’
Louise Potter, Director, along with Karen Stettner, SIPP & SSAS Administrator were invited by the college to view all the artwork produced and shortlist a total of 15 pieces to be proudly displayed in the Taylor Patterson offices.
Karen Stettner commented “The standard of work produced this year was again exceptionally high making the task of choosing just 15 pieces extremely difficult. It was clear to see how much time and effort the students had dedicated to producing their final pieces”.
Once the artwork is on display, staff from Taylor Patterson were asked to vote for their favourite piece, with Tia McKieman-Karrie being declared the winner. Her painting is a beautiful array of colours showing the River Ribble and old tram line in Avenham Park.
Louise Potter, Director said “Due to the success of the 2013 year artwork competition, we were delighted to work with Cardinal Newman students again this year. The commitment and hard work from the students is tremendous and I’d like to thank them all for being part of this initiative”.
The winning piece will feature on the front page of the Autumn 2014 Taylor Patterson half yearly Adviser Magazine, which will be issued from October.
