On Saturday June 4, 2011 at midnight, Gillian Bardin and Michelle Cowsley walked half a marathon for St Catherine’s Hospice, which started and ended at Hutton Police headquarters. Accompanied by friends and family, Gillian and Michelle completed the 13.1 mile walk in just over 4 hours, and combined, the teams raised over £1,500 which will help St Catherine’s to continue providing specialist palliative care to patients in Central Lancashire.
Greg O’Brien completed a coast-to-coast cycle challenge (puncture-free!) to raise money for the Harry Millsop / Batten of Britain Trust. The route took Greg from Whitehaven, over the Pennines, and across to Sunderland in three days. Super-active Greg also completed the Edinburgh marathon in May. This was his fourth marathon and finishing in 3 hours 50 minutes was his second fastest time. So far this year, Greg has raised almost £600 for the Trust which will directly benefit Harry who was diagnosed with Late Infantile NCL, a rare form of Batten Disease, and also contribute to Derian House children’s Hospice.
